Normal and Sometimes New in the Not so Normal
Four-year-old C stand gazing at the gecko hiding under the rock in his enclosure, and she tries to find the frogs hopping about in another aquarium. This part of the case manager’s office has been turned into a mini jungle much to the delight of its occupants and the guests here at Family Promise HCR.
Fun little things like this can make children’s time here a novel and interesting experience. Outside the Center there is a water table and little pool to splash in on these very hot days, as well as chalk and bubbles. Of course, we provide a TV to watch movies and kids shows to sing along with Baby Shark, which the employees at FPHCR carry in their head for the rest of the day.
Each host congregation also offer fun new experiences. Some have playgrounds, gym, or nice long halls to run down! All of them have new toys to explore, nice people to talk, meals to try and maybe dessert! Even driving in the van provides the view of the Susquehanna River, which the kids always mention.
All families want to find their own housing, but until that happens they are able to provide their children with some experiences that they will remember, hopefully fondly here at FPHCR.
