For fifteen years, Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region (FPHCR)’s staff, volunteers, and board has been steadfastly dedicated to living out loud their love through services and resources aimed to prevent family homelessness through comprehensive, holistic stabilization methods.

Our History
FPHCR founder, John Bechtel, shares memories of an extraordinary woman named Yvonne Young Esworthy. John, thank you for taking this leap of faith. We all (including the hundreds of people touched by this program) are grateful!
Our Impact
Our mission is to provide families with the stability they need to thrive. We believe that everyone deserves a safe and secure home, and we are committed to preventing homelessness through an integrated approach that addresses the root causes of instability. Our services include:

- IHN Shelter Program: Community access to safe housing and essential resources for families with children.

- Road to Success: FPHCR partners with United Way to provide training on soft skills, transportation, and child care for participants.

- UP Programs: FPHCR UP Programs address barriers to permanent housing in conjunction with local service providers.

- Prevention Programs: Proactive solutions that empower families with advocacy, skills-training, case management, and more.
