Our host partners really own and are invested in their host weeks. This was apparent to me yet again last week, when my church had its very first full host week. Volunteers signed up to drive for multiple days (That 6 a.m. morning drive Ugh!); put a lot of thought into the meals, and what the families would like, which included tacos, baked potato bar, mac & cheese, fresh fruit, and other deliciousness. Meal makers thought about how to make kid friendly meals, yet meals that would satisfy an adult appetite.
Volunteers came up with some suggestions on how to make the rooms homier for next time, like adding a lamp and a sitting chair in each room. I’m touched by how people really want to make the congregation a comfortable place for the families. The host sites’ spirit of hospitality makes FPHCR a unique place.
