Kimberly Tucker from Dillsburg Brethren in Christ shares her memories of some of the struggles, challenges, and memorable moments from our first few years of having families in rotation.
Dillsburg Brenthren in Christ is one of our only founding congregations that is still hosting 15 years later!
Our Impact
“Becoming homeless and coming into FP gave me a very uneasy feeling…When I think of shelter, I don’t really think of people being helpful. I think of food and cots, but that’s it. It’s definitely different than what Family Promise actually is…They helped me with everything – for me, for my kids, to get long-term housing.” ~FP graduate, Alexis
FPHCR has provided shelter to 579 individuals!
Our “Why”
“I volunteer because no one should be homeless, especially children. Homelessness has many causes, but the big one is lack of affordable housing! DUH! Since I am not able to do much about making housing more affordable, I volunteer to help these families. I care about their situation and I encourage them to keep trying. I enjoy meeting people and hearing their stories.
“[I remember] the family who escaped the fire in their house with only what they were wearing. One Christmas our visitors were a woman and her toddler plus teenage boy who melted hearts as they opened their presents. Another visitor was a young Ethiopian woman and sweet little baby.
“I am amazed at the strength of so many in the face of difficult circumstances. It restores my faith in humanity and in God.”

Our Families
Tasha, her partner, and their 2 children have been at Family Promise for a few months.
They’ve accomplished several goals and are now looking for an apartment!

Fam Jam 2025!
We can’t wait for Fam Jam! 3 bands will be performing (Mojo Filter, Morning Glory, and 2-Hour Delay!) Plus, we’ll have lots of delicious food, fun activities for kids, and a great silent auction as always!
